Welcome to my home town Kodiak, Alaska! I've lived in Kodiak for nearly 35 years and I like to say I grew up here and raised in California.  My journey to Kodiak began in 1977, when my late husband brought me here.  At that time most of Kodiak roads were dirt/gravel, and the town literally shut down by 6 p.m. and TV, or what there was of TV went off the air at 10 p.m. nightly.  Radio was one station only and it too shut down early. 

I've seen many improvements over the years but some roads are still dirt/gravel.  We now have 3G, and enjoy Wi-fi, internet, many radio stations, cable television and the Largest Coast Guard base is here. 

I remember putting a subsistence pot into the water and pulling out a full pot of King Crab, taking them home, cooking them up and enjoying the sweet meat of this crab.  Yum!  I didn't use butter, I prefer the natural flavor of this delicacy.
